Gasana David (Comfort Rwanda) oversees the Comfort International projects in South Sudan.
We recently received an message from him updating us on the situation there.
The team in South Sudan are doing really well in looking after the children, who are part of the Child Support Project, through the pandemic. The price of food in the markets has continued to increase due to the closure of borders. Almost all of the food imported into the country comes across the border with Uganda and this border has been closed.
In spite of the higher prices the team have been very good at making sure there are plenty of supplies. They have just ordered large amounts of different types of food and hygienic items. 500 Kilos of both rice and maize flour as already arrived. They are waiting for more of their order to come which they with then distribute this will include rice, maize, beans, cooking oil, soap, face masks and charcoal.
Members of the team are regularly visiting the children to check how they are doing and to make sure that they are continuing to study while the schools are closed.
Please remember the people of Gumbo in South Sudan, many are experiencing great hunger.
