Six Kiltwalkers take to the paths for Comfort International
The first ever Virtual Kiltwalk took place between 3rd – 5th July and six amazing supporters were walking for Comfort International. Alex & Margaret Hill and Elizabeth Murray walked 6 miles near near Broughty Ferry, Mike and Anne Yarney walked 25 miles in and around Dalgety Bay and Callum Henderson walked 25 miles in the Carnoustie/Arbroath area for himself and a futher 25 miles for his wife who’d had Covid-19 at the beginning of lockdown and is still recovering – that’s 50 miles in all!!! They were walking with the expectation of a very generous additional 50% on top of funds raised as a gift from the Hunter Foundation.
Alex, Margaret and Elizabeth (and Sofia aged 7) wisely managed to complete their 6 mile walk before the rain set in on Friday. Well done Alex, Margaret, Elizabeth and Sofia!
Callum left the start of his epic walk to the Saturday, just. Starting at midnight he walked along the Arbroath Cliffs in the dark and watched the sunrise before taking his first break at home in Carnoustie. He broke his marathon journey into 3 sections and was, remarkably, still walking by the end on Saturday evening. Well done Callum!
Mike and Anne set off at the relatively dignified time of 9 am to walk 25 miles, crossing the Forth from Queensferry and heading up the coast to Aberdour arriving home at about 4pm. Well done Mike and Anne!
They all did a fantastic job raising funds and as if an extra 50% was just not kind enough The Hunter Foundation, in there Kiltwalk Kindness, increased it to 100% extra, how generous! This brought the total raised by our 6 Kiltwakers to an amazing £10 460, WOW!
Well done Kiltwalkers and Thank You to their supporters who donated and encouraged them along the way.
The next 2020 Kiltwalk is due to be held in Edinburgh and is scheduled for 7th September 2020, obviously this may change to become the second ever Virtual Kiltwalk!!
