Phase Two
Since the eruption of the Nyiragongo volcano and the evacuation of much of Goma Comfort Congo has been working hard contacting project beneficiaries and obtaining and distributing emergency food and vital medicines. The second phase of these operations was carried out on Monday and Tuesday (7 & 8 June) and has brought much relief to teachers’ families and medical staff in particular.
Central Hospital Rusayu

With clean, fresh water in short supply more people have been attending the hospital looking for treatment for water-borne diseases. The doctors, nurses and administration staff were very grateful to receive these medicines as they now have the opportunity to help the patients in the way that is most beneficial.
The hospital, as in previous times, is also a distribution hub for emergency food. This time for distribution to the staff and families of Wallugaba, Salugaba and Saint Jean schools as well as for many of the hospital staff and families. The number of people supplied with food on this occasion is 328. The total number of people sulpplied with food is 1605 to date.
Medicines for the Kyezye Health Post
Tuesday the 8th saw the deliver of desperately needed medicines to the Kyezye Health Post. The head nurse, Dusenge Fabien, and his team were very please with the prompt response to the request of emergency medicines to treat evacuees who have been looking for help with a variety of illnesses including water-borne diseases.
“We want to thank Comfort International. We were having difficulty caring for the sick people after the volcano and this will help us care for those people, some of whom are acutely sick. We thank you for your kindness and generosity to help us receive this medication. Because of the volcano we have been pleading for supplies and now we have them.
We, the Health Post team and Joseph, thank you and ask that you will continue to help us with supplies as we are constantly in need.”
Fabien, Head Nurse, Kyezye Health Post
