Rusatira and Rukumberi Communities thank God because of help

Solace supported communities receive much needed support.

One of our partners in Rwanda, Solace Ministries, supports the communities of Rusatira and Rukumberi. A generous gift enabled Comfort International to send Solace funds to bring much needed food relief to these communities struggling because of the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting lockdown situation.

Solace reported,

“The need for food has been felt in these days more than ever before especially because of the lockdown. Most of the people we serve used to survive on their daily activities which are not possible in urban or semi-urban areas in particular.”

Solace, in partnership, through Comfort International, with Ebenezer Church, has supported with 83 families from Rusatira and Rukumberi communities with food and soap.

At the beginning of June, 40 families composed of widows and orphan headed households from Rusatira Community received each a food package which should last each family for at least a month made up of 5 kgs of beans, 10kg of cornflour, 3 kg of sugar, 2 bars of soap and 12,5 kg of rice. At the same time, 43 families from Rukumberi Community; composed of widows and orphans who were struggling to get food received a gift of money equivalent of the food package. They received money because the area was inaccessible because lockdown and recent flooding which had damaged the access bridge.

Solace went on to say,

“The majority of the recipients shed tears of joy and gratitude. Some of them said that they had been so desperate about tomorrow. They came to know that God does really care. The government and local leaders were also informed about this support, and they appreciated this humanitarian action of improving the lives of Rwandans, especially in this pandemic period.”
