Comfort Burundi and Comfort South Sudan have both hosted Christmas parties for the young people on the Burundi Street Kids Rescue and the South Sudan Child Support projects respectively. These were a great experience for the children with much fun, laughter and dancing.
Burundi
The Burundi celebrations were in two separate groups to avoid a lot of people mixing together.
The children gathered for Bible stories and juice after they had been given clothes and shoes as gifts. There was time for a number of children to share their thoughts about the 2022 project activities; they wanted gymnastics and football included as part of their healthy living programme. Some of the children also shared their appreciation for how well they have been loved and looked after since they joined the project. The gifts that had been sent from the UK were also distributed during the celebration.
The project team provided enough food forall of the parents and guardians to share with close family for Christmas.
South Sudan
In South Sudan the children spent whole of the day at the project and the team said that the children had enjoyed their day to the full.
The children received shoes and clothes before one of the project mothers offered to start teaching the children how to dance their graduation dances. Mary, who is part of the team, shared Bible verses to remind everyone of the meaning of Christmas.
The parents and guardians received food to cook at home for Christmas. This food is purchased from a local shop owner who sells the food to Comfort South Sudan at a low price and also helps with the delivery.
The gifts that had been sent from the UK were also distributed during the celebration.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to these projects and parties!
