Sponsorship; a central aspect to Comfort’s fundraising and support portfolio since 2013. We have been blessed to see hundreds of people sponsoring individuals or groups since then. Sponsorship allows sponsors and sponsored to build a relationship through regular letters to each other as well as through some sponsors taking the opportunity to visit projects in Africa with Comfort International.
Sponsorship is about more than just sending money or letters to someone. Sponsorship inspires hope; it equips people to make a change in their lives and their community; it bolsters self-esteem; it supports individuals’ health and so much more!
When I met with some of the people sponsored through Comfort International last year, they were full of amazing things to say about how they felt about being sponsored and the difference it has made in their lives. People like Jean de Dieu in this video:
Currently, Comfort supports 605 individuals across 25 Sponsorship projects in Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, South Sudan and The Democratic Republic of Congo. We know from 12 years of experience that sponsorship makes a huge difference in people’s lives.
We wanted to find a way to help people connect with the projects and individuals awaiting sponsorship before they committed to sponsorship and so, after a lot of research and work, we are delighted to launch our new Sponsorship Portal! This portal will allow you to read a bit about the projects and individuals before signing up to sponsor someone. Our hope is that you will already feel a connection to a particular person or the project they are in so that the process feels more inclusive.
We are starting small, with just 4 out of the 25 sponsorship projects live on the portal, this will change over time until we eventually have all of the projects live on the portal. This is an entirely new venture for us and there may be some teething issues in the beginning so please be patient with us! If you notice any issues, please do let us know.
