We are excited to bring you the latest report direct from Comfort Rwanda on the progress of the Comfort Transformation Centre in Kigali. It has been wonderful to see the progress on the building work over the last few months as we get closer and closer to the CTC becoming a reality. Thank you so much for donating to, supporting and praying for our partners and for this project which will make a radical difference to the lives of Rwandan street children and other vulnerable people. Please find below an update from David Gasana, Director of Comfort Rwanda, our partners who are driving and overseeing the project, and a look to the next steps towards completion of the CTC.
Project Overview
The Comfort Transformation Centre (CTC) is a key project and innovative initiative of Comfort Rwanda, created to provide holistic care for over 80 street-rescued and vulnerable children. Once completed, the centre will include living accommodation, a library, and space for visiting volunteers. The main building is designed in three distinct sections which you can see clearly in the photograph below showing the current state of construction — two wings and a central trunk — forming the heart of the programme’s infrastructure.

Progress to Date
After many delays and frustrations over the last few years, we are thankful to report continued and meaningful progress:
- Foundations and Structural Work (Previous Phases):
- Footings and foundational structures successfully completed
- Ground floor columns and slab constructed
- The central trunk section completed
- Current Status – April 2025:
- Work is ongoing on the final slab of the second wing
- The building’s structural frame is approaching full completion

Construction Plan – 2025
- Second Quarter (Q2):
- Completion of the final Wing, including concrete slab work
- Third Quarter (Q3):
- During their visit to Rwanda, Comfort International groups will participate in constructing the final columns and upper beams that will support the roof
- This contribution is a continued testimony to the strong partnership and shared commitment to transforming lives
- Fourth Quarter (Q4):
- Roof installation will be undertaken, completing the full structural frame of the building

Revision to Roof Design
In response to funding realities and stewardship of resources, the original concrete roof design — while architecturally beautiful — was revised following engineering consultation.
- A steel roofing structure has been recommended as a more cost-effective alternative
- This change ensures timely progress and allows available funds to be used wisely, without compromising the quality or vision of the centre
Closing Note from Comfort Rwanda
“We remain grateful to God and to our partners for the steady movement of this vision. With the involvement of the local team and visiting supporters, we are confident that 2025 will be a year of significant breakthrough. The Comfort Transformation Centre stands not just as a building, but as a beacon of hope, restoration, and future for the children of Rwanda.”

How you can get involved
Are you wondering how you could get involved in the next stage of the CTC? We would love you to take part in our fundraising initiative to raise money for the next lot of construction needs for the CTC, and principally to see the home for street kids come to completion by the end of the year.
Host a Potato & Pudding Party
You can host a Potato and Pudding Party by inviting friends to a dinner party. Serve jacket potatoes, with any fillings, and puddings. Do it as a pot-luck style event or provide it all yourself. Ask for a donation and donate the money which will go to building the Comfort Transformation Centre in Rwanda! Visit our page for resources including recipe ideas, invitations, posters and info on the CTC.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support, prayerful and financial, for the work of the CTC. Please persist in prayer, especially for our partners at Comfort Rwanda, that they would continue to drive the CTC project with passion, ability, favour and resources, all whilst they maintain their important work in the Street Kids Rescue and Comfort Babies projects already in place. Please also pray for all the funds needed for the next phases of the building work.
